Pharmaceutical Grade Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) by Jarrow Formulas.Coenzyme Q-10 is an important antioxidant found in high concentration in human heart and liver, kidney, spleen and pancreas tissue. Co-Q10 is part of the cells’ electron transport system.
Co-Q10 is a powerful antioxidant that can decrease the proliferation of free radicals and lighten the load on the immune system. Co-Q10 is not found just within the cells’ organelles, but also is naturally present in the cell membranes.
Another function of Co-Q10 is to make sure the cells’ plasma membrane remain flexible. The fluidity of the membranes is crucial for proper physical performance because membrane fluidity affects membrane receptors, carriers and enzymes.
Jarrow Formulas Co-Q10 is derived from fermentation and consists only of the natural trans configuration, the same as sythesized by humans.

Due to the limited supply and increasing demand worldwide, especially in Japan, CoQ 10 prices have gone up during the past year. There are only 3 manufacturers of CoQ 10, all of which are based in Japan. The largest one is in the process of adding production capability in Japan, and also in Pasadena, Texas, hopefully by the end of 2005, and early 2006. Until then, the prices will be unstable, with an upward trend. The wholesale market price for pure CoQ 10 used to be around 0-900 per kilogram. It now runs between 2 and 4 thousand dollars a kilogram. As a result, many of the brand names we represent have been forced to raise their prices.
